SUMMARY:"ColdFusion and Flex"\, with Dale Fraser\, rescheduled to May 22
DESCRIPTION:ColdFusion Meetups > The Online ColdFusion Meetup Group\n\nWhen
: Thursday\, May 8\, 6:00pm US EDT (GMT-5) (What time is that for you? See
 http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?year=2008&month=5&day=
22&hour=18&min=00&sec=0&p1=25 which shows the time as US EDT and you can c
hoose your city from the list offered to see what time that is in your own
 timezone.)\n\nMeeting URL: http://experts.acrobat.com/cfmeetup/ \nDuration:
Approx. 1 hour\nMeeting will be recorded. URL will be posted after meetin
g at http://recordings.coldfusionmeetup.com\n\n\nWe won't have any talk the
week of May 15\, but on Thursday May 22 we will have our talk that was ori
ginally scheduled for Thursday\, May 8\, with Dale Fraser\, presenting "Col
dFusion and Flex: How to write simple Flex applications that leverage your
existing ColdFusion data". \n\nDescription: (provided by the speaker)\n\nSo
how hard is it to write Flex applications that utilise ColdFusion componen
ts? It?s actually very easy\, easier than you might think. One of the reaso
ns for giving this talk is that I initially found it hard to get my head ar
ound how it would work\, how to configure it all and looked at it and then
put it aside a few times. >From doing this I have learnt what I think is th
e easiest way to get ColdFusion & Flex configured to work together\, this i
s what I will be demonstrating.\n\nI?ll show the basics of configuration (F
lex Builder and some setup of CF)\, then will show and discuss several form
 s of integration: remote objects\, remoting & binding\, and using queries\
 , arrays\, structures\, and objects/CFCs.\n\nSpeaker:\n\nDale Fraser is Chi
ef Technical Officer for CogState Limited\, a public biotech company who de
velops software for cognitive testing for use in clinical drug trials. He's
a long-time ColdFusion user and supporter\, and he runs the LearnCF.com an
d FlexCF.com websites.\n\nRECORDING: As always\, the meeting will be record
ed\, and the recording URL will be posted after the meeting at http://recor
dings.coldfusionmeetup.com.\n\nLOGGING IN: When you login to the Connect ro
om (the experts.acrobat.com/cfmeetup link above) to view the meeting\, PLEA
SE USE THE "LOGIN AS GUEST" option\, and use your real name\, but do NOT at
tempt to use your meetup.com username/password. The login screen presented
there has no connection to meetup.com. And if you have a real Connect accou
nt\, don't use that either. Just sign in as a guest. It's just not worth th
e time to try to track who RSVPs and add them manually as participants in e
ach meeting. You have no fewer features as a guest as when you would login
with your own account. Thanks.\n\nRSVP\, only if coming: As always\, we do
appreciate folks RSVPing if they plan to come (using the link on this email
or at the meetup site)\, though it's not mandatory and it's not a commitme
nt. BTW\, no need to RSVP if you can't make it nor even explain why you can
't. With nearly 1\,500 members\, there's really no reason to explain your a
bsence. :-) We'll also appreciate your sharing your feedback after the meet
ing (also offered via a follow-up email or via a link on the site).\n\nDisc
uss each meeting: While the meetup.com site has long had the feature to rat
e and offer a single feedback comment about each meeting\, as well as to ha
ve discussions on any subjects\, it now offers meeting-specific discussion
area\, available on each meeting event page. Please feel free to have discu
ssions there about the meeting's topic.\n\nAdd this to your calendar: If yo
u would like to easily add this event to your own personal calendar\, pleas
e note that the page for the event offers a link (on the right) saying\, "A
dd this meeting to your calendar"\, which offers links to get calendar down
 loads for Outlook\, iCal\, Google\, and Yahoo calendars. For now\, there's
no means for me to add these as attachments to the email sent out about eac
 h meeting.\n\nAlpharetta\, GA 30005 - USA\n\nThursday\, May 22 at 6:00 PM\
